'Let me live, love and say it well in good sentences'

Dry the River, @drytheriver are my frontrunners for the BBC Sound of 2012

The BBC Sound of 2012 shortlist has been revealed today and one act stands out for me, against the crowd of 15 potentials.

Dry the River are a quintet from London, fronted by medical student Peter Liddle. They formed in August 2009 and count Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and The National as influences.

Liddle describes their sound as “folky gospel music played by a post-punk band“. Say no more; just take a listen to the tracks below: ‘Weights & Measures’ and ‘No Rest.’

The top 5 shortlisted acts will be revealed daily during the first week of 2012, with the final winner being announced on January 6th, 2012. Good luck to all involved, but I personally would like to see a great deal more from these folky punks.
