'Let me live, love and say it well in good sentences'

Feisty female folk…this week I am mostly listening to Whitney, Katy, Taylor and Niki

This is my favourite Whitney Houston song. I’d like to see a change in the way that addictions are reported and represented in the media, particularly in the UK. That is all.

I have a lot of love for Katy Perry. I think that she’s a great example of a strong and feisty female, who carries herself with dignity and an endearing free spirit. This track from her repackaged ‘Teenage Dream‘ album is also rather wonderful.

The Fox‘ is the latest release from electronic duo, Niki & The Dove. After ranking highly on the BBC Sound of 2012 poll, this band has gone from strength to strength and enjoyed a considerable amount of radio coverage over recent weeks. I don’t foresee any bland music videos from this duo, they prefer to view the medium as a means of sharing their vision and with artistic temperaments such as these, that vision will never be dull.

Intriguing folk duo, The Civil Wars, have been steadily garnering support and plaudits, largely due to some notably impressive tv appearances this side of the Atlantic. Taylor Swift needs no introduction (Kanye, breathe a sigh of relief), but to say that I rather enjoy her work and may have been guilty at first glance of underestimating the talents of this fair-faced friend of the felines. Her vocals on this track are both delicate and haunting; two qualities which I particularly enjoy in a female singer-songwriter…more of the same please!
