Rudimental ft John Newman, ‘Feel The Love.’  The 4 piece East London collective release their latest track on May 28th, 2012. ‘Feel The Love’ is a spectacular smorgasbord of genres (soul, dubstep and grime), which come together to produce a rather reposed and replenishing sound. I like it alot, not least due to the addition of horses as a preferred means of transport across the metropolis.

Gossip, ‘Perfect World.’ This is the lead single from Beth Ditto and pals’ fifth studio album, ‘A Joyful Noise’ and is available to download now. The album is released on May 22nd, 2012. I think that this track has more of an indie-pop vibe than some of their previously released, harder indie-rock offerings. As I air on the side of pop, this pleases me greatly. I also like the ‘Like a Prayer’-stylised music video; I am a big fan of the candle, at times I expect Nosferatu to appear from behind my kitchen door clutching a potato peeler (I don’t house anything more lethal). Luckily he hasn’t thus far.

Hot Chip, ‘Night and Day.’ The electronic outfit’s latest track is taken from their fifth studio album, ‘In Our Heads’ and is released on June 4th, 2012. The album is out on June 12th, 2012. The band has said that the new album was strongly influenced by their current love affair with house music and that is certainly evident on this track. I think that this is going to be one of the big sounds of the summer in Ibiza, where I shall be basking whilst learning more about the art of music journalism – I’m going on a Creative Writing Retreat and am rather excited about it! For anyone who might be interested, details can be found here: http://creativewritingibiza.com/2011/04/26/creative-writing-ibiza-2011/. I shall be posting my adventures from the White Isle on a daily basis, no fear.

Labyrinth Ear, ‘White Gold.’ This is actually a relatively old track from the London-based electronic duo, but also happens to be my favourite and a useful link for me to promote their latest EP, ‘Apparitions.’ This track was also featured on a recent episode of Ringer, one of my three favourite television programmes at the moment, alongside Grimm and Once Upon A Time.  It would be fair to say that my mind is largely preoccupied within the realm of fairytales.

Regina Spektor, ‘All The Rowboats.’ This is the first single to be released from Spektor’s new album, ‘What We Saw From The Cheap Seats.’ The album is out worldwide on May 29th, 2012. I can tell you what Spektor didn’t see from the cheap seats and that was William and Kate’s Royal Wedding last year. Spektor was very vocal on her Facebook page about her disdain for the event and royality in general. She had a few fair points, but this didn’t put a dampener on my day, as I was passed another glass of the finest champagne that Egton Bridge had to offer before our Great British bbq was fired up. The indie angst certainly has its place and in Spektor’s case, produces great pieces of work, but sometimes it’s ok to just kick back and say “Jane, I need a top up…Harry’s just arrived and he’s wearing some sort of military regalia!”
